use only in case of emergencies
Jun. 16th, 2006 01:31 amWhat I'm referring to in the title is my luck.
For most of the time, my life is average, a bit dull, bleh-ish. Once in a while, I get lucky in little, seemingly futile things (which is why I usually have crappy betting and gambling luck although I did technically earn $18 in today's crossword scratchie).
But it seems like most of my luck is stored away for uses in very serious situations.
About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I was walking home from campus on a Tuesday evening. Now, there's 3 routes back to home.
1) the main road route with lots of cars and cyclists and people and buses going by.
2) through the student housing pathways.
3) shortcut through the next door college parking lot.
Half the time, I usually take option #3 but only when it's daytime. Seeing as it was pretty dark already I decided to take option #1. Lucky me. It turns out around the time that I was walking home, a student cutting through said college parking lot was stopped by 2 men and taken aside to get bashed and robbed. A minute later, another student got grabbed and had the same treatment after being tossed next to the first student. Considering I had actually considered taking option #3 because it was a straight line onto my home, I was lucky to have decided to take the main road route.
Earlier this week on Tuesday, I had gone out to the city with Reyhan for some sushi (SUSHI!) and we took a bus back to my place so we could watch a little Ouran (YAY!). I only found out today that a girl on that same Tuesday evening was stopped by a man asking the time. She was dragged into a car and robbed and "assaulted", which was the term the people at the Uni used. Face it, you're a girl and you just got kidnapped by a couple (or more) guys, it ain't just going to be assault, people. She was raped and bashed. Full. Stop.
Needless to say, my luck is pretty good. I do get the occasional crappy day and disappointments of everything gone wrong, but I live a boring life while my Luck handles these potential disasters that The Bitch decides to toss in my direction, then fuck that! I'd stick with boring thanks.
Sure, I complain that my life is boring and everything but I really don't mind it that much at all.
Speaking of scratchies, I got pretty lucky today. Reyhan traditionally buys a scratchie for good luck everytime after she gets paid. So she bought one, scratched, got nothing. After a minute of chatting away at the people at the Lotterywest counter, I got bored and decided to buy a scratchie of my own.
So, that's $1 for a scratchie. Guess what I got? $3. Reyhan happily suggests that I get another scratchie. Guy at counter suggests a Crossword Scratchie. What's that? So I just bought one for fun. Took me a while to keep scratching off the letters while walking (and avoiding poles and stopping for the red light......baka nee-san tried to walk me into a pillar but I stopped....I'm not THAT blind...XP hidoii) but after some mild cursing and calculations, I earned $18.
A $17 profit in one evening. COOL!
XD
Pity I didn't get a H. Would have loved to get a bonus word prize but oh well.
*shrugs*
