But in any case...I was watching a National Geographic series called Becoming A King and because it's Merdeka Day, this week's episode is the coronation of the newly installed Sultan of Malaysia, Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tengku Mizan...
I hope I got His title correct. In anyways, as I watched the episode, I can see why he's as he is. I mean, I've seen his mother so it's not all that surprising.
But yeah, for anyone who doesn't know, Malaysia is a federal democracy and the only country to have a revolving monarchy. Yes, revolving monarchy.
This means every 5 years, all the Sultans of the states (Peninsular Malaysia anyways) get together and hold a vote to see who will be the next Sultan of Malaysia. It came about a couple of weeks after independence and every state monarchy asked the question "Who's the Sultan of Malaysia then?"
Basically, the Sultan of Malaysia is the the Head of Islam, can elect judges, pardon people blah blah, but don't truly hold that much power. The power comes from the people themselves because the Sultan is the figurehead. It's mostly ceremonial but hey, they're still royalty.
I can't wait to start driving Gaara. Stupid technician better come down here and install that gorram alarm in the boot!!!
