I. Am. Pissed. Off.

Busy, busy week and a half for us....I think it's a week and a half, give or take. Going to be busy again in a week or two.

But anyways, straight to the point of my tale.

There's another manager. We shall label him as A. He and I don't get along well although I try to keep it professional between us. He just bosses everyone and everyone else does not like it. Dude, you're just a manager; get over it. Since we're so busy, we're getting 2 to 4 call waitings on average each (all 4 of us on duty) and the reception is busy getting in another group for a conference, it's insane. Yesterday was equally bad. I actually had to do overtime and help check in the same group. And my check in skills suuuucccckkkk, but hey, orders are orders and I could use the extra cash.

So, A calls up and practically ordered me to find out from a certain airlines what time do they close because a guest needs to confirm his ticket. As soon as I hung up, I muttered angrily because of the way he spoke and the fact that for the next 5 minutes I had non-stop calls. Non-stop. I was also in the middle of preparing a message for a guest to be printed and delivered. Of course, he called back later and wanted to know. Managed to placate him to wait a while more.

So, I called up the KL number and was given the number for ticketing & reservation and called there instead and found they closed at 5.45pm. Just to double check, I asked if they had anymore branches in KK but the lady confirmed none were left.

So, off I called A's handphone whilst I glared at the console screen for having 5 call waitings. I informed A of what I had found. Next thing I know, he's getting pissy and demanding why couldn't I get the KK number instead?! I quote, "How is the guest going to pay for the phone call?!" Unquote. I don't know, credit card? Traveller's cheque? Cash?

So, I informed him that this particular airlines didn't have a KK banch anymore. I quote, "I don't believe you. I'm sure they have a KK number. You go and find out!" Unquote. What a moron. This airline closed its branch years ago when I was a kid. As a manager in front office, shouldn't you keep tabs on which airlines have a local branch? I mean, there are hundreds of airlines worldwide; you'll find a much wider variety in available in KL than KK. I used to go to the airport branch when I was young so I could watch the planes taking off and they gave you 2 free chocolates in the shape of their logo; white and milk chocolate. Then, they closed it and I stopped plane watching on Sundays.

I mean, I know it's busy and everything, but I was not rude; but straight to the point under the circumstances. You're busy, I'm busy, we're busy; doesn't mean I'm your maid. I'm just your subordinate. Even when you start yelling at me, I did not raise my voice and kept my tone steady enough. Although a thread of cold malice might slipped in.

You probably know I don't like you. I'm not perfect, I cannot possibly like everyone. But  I'm pretty sure your friend; my colleague (gossiper in denial) probably told all. That's fine with me; I was aware of what might happen when I complained in front of her. It's still not fair that you treat us this way, not just me. Others don't like this bad habit of yours, too.

Sure, we know all about your sad childhood of divorced parents from your friend but you're over 30 and in a leadership position. People get tired of hearing you complain about people who keep treating you badly. People treat you badly because you don't respect them and always fob off your work to anyone whom you think is beneath you. I know growing up in a situation like that made you who you are, but isn't time to take a good look at yourself with an open mind?

Call me hypocritical; that's fine with me. At least I am not deluded about my selfishness and how I treat people. And my annoying tendency to burst out into loud and angry rants at random times in the office.

As it is, I finished up the message delivery and evening wake up calls for napping guests so I could handover. A was in the doorway of the office, holding the door open, looking like he wanted to talk to someone but couldn't decide who. I could only give him a quick glance as I walked because I swear, I wanted to crack his gel spiked head against the door. Repeatedly. While yelling.

Gggrrrrrrrrrrr.....
