the good samaritan that went nowhere
Sep. 8th, 2005 02:11 pmkotori~~!!!
anyways, after having lunch with fareena at angazi cafe, i was walking down a slope past the stairs that led up to the cafe and the library entrance when something fluffy to my right caught my eye.
it was a cute fluffy poor little baby bird that fell out of his nest. it couldn't fly, and looked like it hadn't started molting yet. the poor thing hopped across the path(which was open to vehicles today) all the way to the other side where there was a patch of trees and ground plants thingies. i spent about 10 minutes wondering what to do with it, and i then stopped a blond girl(slightly plump) for help. i found out her name was rachel and she's a nursing student and had a lecture in an hour and a half or so.
anyways, we took turns asking around and standing there like idiots(the baby bird was sooo cute and helpless!!). i managed to get some help at the international office. chamonix called parks & gardens services but it wasn't under their jurisdiction...what the fuck?!.....anyways, she got redirected and put on hold, repeatedly.....
anyway, after another while of standing through winds, showers, a guy finally came about to inform us that he didn't quite know what to do either. he asked a couple of gardners(in which that time the winds hit it's maximum along with the rain and nearly blew away my umbrella) but one of the gardners reckoned if nothing can be done we should break it's neck......O.O!!!!!
after a while more, the guy(never got his name) spotted an old lady(norma) who turns out raises racing pigeons.....she took a look and recommended that we leave it alone since the parent is feeding it(although the poor thing was hiding under a leaf of this rather young and pathetic looking plant). i didn't tell her that i had tried to pick the chick up but let go when it didn't like it. norma said that if a human had picked it up, the parent would have left it to die....the parents were chasing off birds while we were waiting....norma advised that the parents would sweep it up into the nest when no humans were around....
after over an hour of standing around in the rain and winds(my entire left side is wet), that was pretty much it........i just feel pathetic really....although when i tried to pick the chick up, it's feathers felt so soft and downy!!! and it looked so cute!!! *squeals*
i'm going to take a nap now.....my legs hurt so bad....
